How to become an IS3D Major
IS3D Admission Process
The IS3D major is an impacted program
IS3D staff focus on helping students complete their UD coursework, find internships and transitioning out of college into the job market. We serve students from all over campus and rely on cooperation between students, collegiate advisors and IS3D staff to be successful. To be admitted to the interdisciplinary studies in three departments major, students must meet the following criteria:
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
- Have completed 60 credits of transferable coursework
- Completed all of the Lower Division coursework as laid out in their Custom Plan Application, with passing grades
- Submit a Custom Plan Application
Additional Admission Policies
- No student who is in good standing in their current major within 15 units of graduation will be considered for admission.
- We enthusiastically welcome all students from any disciplinary background.
- Students applying to SDSU may not enter as IS3D majors. New first-year or transfer students must apply to the major after enrollment.
- Students may not apply for admission to the major during the semester in which they plan to graduate, no exceptions.
How to Apply to the Major
The IS3D program is a unique student-led major. To be admitted into the major students must follow the following steps:
- Complete a Custom Plan.
- Need help completing your custom plan? Please use our Custom Plan Application Guide.
- Have their Custom Plan approved by IS3D.
- Complete the Lower Division coursework required by each of their three disciples.
- Meet our Admission requirements of 60 transferable credits at SDSU and a minimum of a GPA of 2.0.
- Fill out a Custom Plan. Please review the IS3D Coursework and Departments. As you fill out your Custom Plan please feel free to email us with questions at [email protected] or schedule an appointment with one of our professional advisers or one of our peer advisers.
- Once we receive your Custom Plan we will check the plan to ensure that it meets our requirements. Once your plan is approved you will receive an email from us and we will be available to answer any IS3D questions as you complete our admission criteria.
- Once your Custom Plan is approved, work on completing the Lower Division coursework within each of your three disciplines. As soon as you have completed this coursework and your grades have posted you will be ready to join the major.
- Once students have completed 60 transferable credits at SDSU and have a GPA of at least 2.0 they can move into the major!
